Everyone can benefit from doing an annual or semi-annual detox program. We live in a world where we are constantly exposed to a variety of toxins on a regular basis. Some toxins come from lifestyle choices, such as chemical-laden cleaning and personal care products. Some are from medical and dental exposures, including dental amalgams, vaccines, and medications (both prescription and over-the-counter). Some are inhaled pollutants released by big corporations. Still others are in the foods we eat in the form of pesticides, fertilizers, and antibiotics used in commercial agriculture and found in non-organic produce, eggs, dairy, and meat.
Surprisingly, common foods such as apples, nuts, and strawberries (even organic) can be toxic to individuals in whom they cause allergic reactions. The symptoms are not always classic allergic manifestations, such as coughing, diarrhea or hives, so you may be unaware that a symptom is a food reaction. One commonly-eaten ingredient that can have pervasive effects on multiple organ systems is wheat. More specifically, a sensitivity to gluten, the protein found in wheat, barley and rye, can affect nearly every organ in the body.
Since early 2012, TIMC has offered a unique blood profile from Cyrex Laboratories. The test examines more than 27 parameters to determine if you have an undiagnosed gluten sensitivity. Gluten has long been known as the cause of Celiac disease. What is little known, however, is that more than 1,700 medical articles have been published linking gluten to illnesses such as neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. An additional Cyrex blood test can identify cross-reactivity to commonly eaten non-gluten containing foods, including dairy, corn, rice, and others. Undiagnosed food sensitivities can cause a myriad of symptoms. We have discovered that people are negatively impacted by more foods and in more ways than we ever imagined.
The good news is that all of us can take charge of these toxic burdens and do something about them. A major step to “clean up your life” is undergoing a detox program. TIMC offers several detox programs lasting from one week to one month.
Detox 360 is our most comprehensive program. In 5 weekly educational sessions we will discuss how to detox your life by eating gluten and dairy free, choosing whole foods and healthier beverages, and developing lifestyle practices that support detoxification. You will also take supplements and homeopathic remedies that promote detoxification.
By avoiding pharmaceuticals whenever possible, avoiding vaccines completely, eating fresh whole foods (locally grown and organic as available), and choosing healthier products, we can lower our toxic burden and improve our health in many ways. I also offer optional sessions on how to choose fragrance-free cleaning and personal care products…. or even learn how to make your own!
We love this program — and I know you will too.
